Ray Fuego is an Amsterdam-based artist whose raw energy, fearless creativity, and cultural influence have made a lasting mark on the Dutch music landscape. Raised in the vibrant, multicultural Bijlmermeer in Amsterdam-Zuidoost, Ray was deeply shaped by his surroundings—fueling both his artistic voice and social perspective.
In 2013, he founded the influential SMIB collective, which quickly grew into a cultural force, setting the tone for a new generation of multidisciplinary creatives in the Netherlands.
Ray Fuego is known for his versatility and boundary-pushing approach—whether as a solo artist, a member of SMIB, or as the electrifying frontman of the punk band Ploegendienst. His breakthrough came with the critically acclaimed solo album "Zwart" (2018), which won the 3voor12 Award for Best Album. His follow-up album, "Open, Bloot 'n Paranoïde" (2022), further cemented his place as one of the most original voices in Dutch music.
In 2024, Ray released "DSM-5" with Ploegendienst, and contributed to the newly released SMIB album "Eendraght Maeckt Maght"—a testament to his ongoing creative evolution. He has performed at major festivals such as Lowlandsand Down The Rabbit Hole, gaining recognition for his intense, high-impact live shows.
Beyond music, Ray Fuego is a style icon and cultural voice. He was named Esquire’s Best Dressed Man in 2020 and continues to influence Dutch fashion and youth culture through his personal expression and fearless individuality.
In August 2025, Ray will add a new chapter to his creative journey with the release of his debut poetry book, "Bolo di Entropia", which is now available for pre-order.
